Faith Confession

LIFETREE CHRIST CHURCH'S FAITH CONFESSION

1:God

The Bible reveals that there is one, true God. God is three persons: “God the Father,” “God the Son,” and “God the Spirit.” He is three in person and at the same time perfectly one in essence.

God created everything in the world and is completely sovereign over all created things. He is perfectly holy, deeply loving, and perfectly righteous. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He has existed from eternity past and will exist for eternity in the future, and he never changes. God has revealed himself to people. Meeting him, receiving him as Lord, and going through life with him is the most important thing a person can do. When people believe in God and draw close to him, God will likewise draw close to them, and they will experience his love.

2:God the Father

The first person of the Trinity is God the Father. He is the true father who perfectly reigns over the Earth, abounding in love and compassion, caring about even the smallest details of our life.

He is the one who, in order to forgive our sins, determined to send Jesus Christ to die on the cross and then raised him from the dead.

Even while we were sinners, God the Father revealed his love for us.

God the Father desires that everyone believe that he is the one, true God and be saved.

He has mercy on all those who believe in him and listens to their prayers.

He sees everyone equally and will judge each person individually according to what they have done.

3:God the Son (Jesus Christ)

The second person of the Trinity is God the Son. He is fully God and fully man. He has existed eternally, long before the world came into existence. He is the creator of this world. He was not born by man but of the Spirit from a virgin, Mary.

He is Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, the Savior who the Old Testament repeatedly prophesied would come.

Jesus Christ is God who became man and came to Earth. Through Jesus Christ, God has revealed himself.

He lived a perfect life without any sin, died on the cross for our sins, was buried in a tomb, rose to life again three days later, and made a way that we could be saved.

After he rose, he ascended to heaven before the eyes of his disciples and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, having dominion over all things, and he intercedes on our behalf.

One day, he will once again return to Earth.

4:God the Spirit (The Holy Spirit)
The third person of the Trinity is the Holy Spirit. Along with God the Father and God the Son, the Holy Spirit has eternally existed since before the world was created, and he created the world.

The Holy Spirit has a personality, and in the days of the Old Testament he met with came upon certain people.

After Pentecost, he dwells in all those who believe in Jesus Christ, and he is the proof that one is a child of God. He accomplishes the salvation of man and makes them understand this salvation. He also works within the believer, leads their life, develops their character, and gives them spiritual understanding.

All believers need to submit to the Holy Spirit and choose to be filled by him.

5:The Bible

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by those under the direction of the Holy Spirit, perfect and without any mistakes. The Bible has the same central theme throughout its entirety: “the glory of God” and “the salvation of man through Jesus Christ.” God has revealed who he is through the Bible.

The Bible also has commands that should be obeyed. When a person reads the Bible and obeys its commands, God is pleased, and the person finds joy in life, receiving what is needed in order to walk the straight path and to receive God’s blessing.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 5:32, 17:19  Psalms 1:1-3, 19:7-10, 33:4, 119:9-11, 119:89, 119:105, 119:130, 119:140  Isaiah 34:16, 40:8  Jeremiah 15:16, 23:29  Matthew 4:4, 5:17-18, 22:29, 22:43-46  Luke 11:28, 21:33, 24:44  John 5:39, 10:35, 14:15, 16:13-15, 17:17  Acts 17:11  Romans 15:4  Ephesians 6:17  1 Timothy 4:13  2 Timothy 3:15-17  Hebrews 1:1-2, 4:12  James 1:22  1 Peter 1:10-12, 1:25  2 Peter 1:21

6:Mankind

Men and women were created in the image of God. They are the pinnacle of all of God’s creation.

Because Adam and Eve fell, all people after them have a sin nature. In other words, after people are born, they ignore God and are under the curse of sin.

Because of this curse, people cannot receive the glory that comes from God, and their lives are filled with problems. Therefore, all people should repent of their sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Savior, be reconciled to God, be freed from the curse of sin, and live as God’s child.

Only by this can we recover the true life that God has given us.

Genesis 1:26-30, 2:7, 2:18-25, 3:1-24, 9:6  Psalms 1:1-6, 8:3-6, 32:1-5, 51:5  Isaiah 6:5, 59:1-2

7:Salvation

Because all people have a sin nature, they are separated from God and destined to die both physically and spiritually.

We cannot obtain salvation by hard work or good deeds. However, God prepared a plan for people to be saved, and it was successful.

His plan was to send the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of man as a substitute, to then be buried in a tomb, and three days later to be raised to life. This plan is called “the gospel.”

Anyone who receives the gospel will receive a new life, being saved by grace through faith.

There are three aspects of salvation: being considered righteous (justification), being made holy (sanctification), and receiving a glorified body (glorification).

Once people believe in Christ and are saved, they cannot lose their salvation.

8:The Church

The church is the body of Christ, the bride of Christ, and the possession of Christ.

A church is a congregation of people, led by the one Shepherd: Jesus Christ. Each member is considered a saint, and they are all believers in and disciples of Christ.

On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came to this world, the “Universal Church” was born. After this, the “Local Church” spread throughout the world.

The leadership of the local church should be determined by the Bible’s instruction.

The purpose of the church is to show God’s glory through worship, fellowship, spiritual growth, ministry, and evangelism.

9:Creation

God created everything that exists in this world. Therefore, all things are, by right, God’s possession.

God’s reason for creating this world was to reveal his glory, character, and wisdom.

When God created the world, it was good. Before sin entered the world by the fall of man, the world was perfect.

10:The Second Coming

The first time Christ came to the world, he came to Earth as the lamb who takes away our sins, but the second time he will come visibly in order to save his people, judge the wicked, and reign over the Earth. This is the Second Coming.

Before the Second Coming, the “Tribulation” will occur. This will be the worst time period in history. However, before the Tribulation, Christians will be brought to heaven (this is called the “Rapture”) and will not experience the Tribulation.

After the Second Coming, Christians will reign together with Christ over the Earth for 1,000 years.

Isaiah 2:4, 53:1-12  Matthew 16:27, 19:28, 24:5, 24:10, 24:27, 24:29-30, 24:36, 24:42-44, 25:31-46, 26:64  Mark 8:38, 13:5-8, 13:12, 13:33, 13:36-37  Luke 12:40, 12:48, 17:26-37, 21:8-28  John 14:1-3  Acts 1:9-11, 17:31  Romans 11:11-12, 14:10  1 Corinthians 1:7, 4:5, 15:24-28, 15:35-58  2 Corinthians 5:10  Philippians 3:20-21  Colossians 1:5, 3:4  1 Thessalonians 1:7, 4:13-18, 5:1-6  2 Thessalonians 1:10, 2:3-17  1 Timothy 6:14  2 Timothy 3:1-5, 4:3, 4:8  Titus 2:11-13  Hebrews 9:27-28  James 5:8  1 Peter 1:13, 4:7, 5:4  2 Peer 3:7, 3:10-12  1 John 2:18, 2:22, 2:28, 3:2  Jude 14-15  Revelation 1:7, 1:18, 3:10-11, 4:1-18:24, 19:1-20:15

11:Eternity

All people will exist forever.

However, a person’s faith in God determines where they will spend eternity. Some will spend eternity with God (Heaven), and some will spend eternity separated from God (Hell).

Hell was originally created for the devil and demons. When the world ends, the devil, demons, and all those who rejected Christ’s salvation will go to hell. It is a place of eternal suffering.

On the other hand, immediately after death, Christians will go to be with God (by Abraham’s side / Paradise), be a part of the millennial kingdom, and then live forever with God and with God’s people in the new heaven and the new earth.

Christians will be changed into a holy being and will receive a glorified body that will never perish. All their needs will be filled, and they will receive the glory of Christ.
